For instance: we can advise towns and cities how to stage a medieval jubilee if the place celebrates it's 500th, 600th, 700th, 800th or maybe even 1000th birthday and every jubilee in between. We know about what people ate and drank, how it was made and how it can be recreated today for an all-inhabitants banquet. We know how to dress up the town in medieval ways and how the burghers can be coaxed into making cheap but effective period-dress. We can re-design the old town hall or other historical mansions and buildings in a medieval manner, we know what the throne of the king or prince or count who made the town into a city looked like and how he was dressed, as well as what his courtiers wore and what their coats-of-arms were. We can take care of the production of a handwritten copy of the town charter, including the seal.
Therefore; we can advise your restaurant how to stage a medieval, Burgundian, Tudor, Elizabethan or Stuart feast which is going to look like the real thing, for a change, by redesigning your room(s), dressing up the staff in original costumes (no fakes), designing and even supplying real period wall-decoration, recipes for a real medieval bill of fare and suggestions for entertainment. If you want to present a medieval market or fair we can advise you on stalls and tents and on the food and drink for sale during the festivities. We can advise modern artisans to dress their stalls and themselves in the manner of the chosen period. We can suggest modern shopkeepers in the neighbourhood to adapt their shopfronts to the same period and choose the wares to show and sell that fit the rest of the market or fair. We can take care of the scripts for ceremonies during fairs and dress up officials and public if necessary. If your school plans a history project which has the Middle Ages or later eras as a theme, we can advise you as well. We can show you how to dress the kids, how to decorate the school or classroom, what kind of sports or games to play and what to feed the children and what drinks to give them. We also have suggestions about subjects the children can make and do themselves. If your historic society, museum or castle wishes to present a historic event or exposition, but does not know how and where to get sets, props, costume, flags and furniture; we can do that. We even do designs for expositions, logo's, notepaper, posters, advertisements, invitations, press-handouts, educational material and a script for the official opening of it.
We can also advise you on the possibilities of introducing Living History in and around your historic site or building. You only have to send us full information, including photographs, of your site and collection as it is now, and we can send you a report which lists all possible ways you can take to start with this modern and very effective way of public-participation. We will also tell you if this is the wrong idea for your site; this will cost you nothing. A positive initial report will cost you 250 UK pounds/390 US dollars. After this we can negotiate the costs of a more advanced plan for Living History on your site. Lastly, we can answer every question you may have concerning European medieval subjects.
